"The lodge was opened in the first degree at 8 O'Clock. A letter was read from the Most Wor. Grand Master instructing that a period of mourning be observed for Bro. Franklyn Delano Roosevelt by draping the altar and Charter at the next regular meeting and that suitable tribute be paid to his memory by some Brother appointed for that purpose and further that as part of our tribute a period of silence be observed, with the Brethren standing at the Sign of Fidelity.
The W. Master stated that Grand Lodge was holding a similar tribute, with Bro. Rev...would offer a suitable tribute...and as we had been invited to this occasion we would retire after a period of silence had been observed."
This short video looks at the follow-up to the 1945 letter featured in last weeks Wednesday Information Video: in which Grand Lodge informs Masonic Lodges of Bro.
FDR's passing and directing Lodges to observe a suitable period of mourning.
